It is.  Honestly, I am gratified that it's been carried into this decade
thanks largely to your good work quick-migrating the former via.net 
physical host's substantive config into a virthost's chroot environment
at prgmr.com.  That was an inspired idea and even prevented downtime,
but of course what's really needed is a rebuild, as the scary
hand-hacked stuff in the chroot is unmaintainable and way obsolete.

A migration host would need something other than Mailman 2.7, and
the obvious but somewhat depressing choice is Mailman3, which is
monstrous.

Most such options would throw away the mailing list archives, which 
house SVLUG's history going back to 1998.  The archives have been
largely stable modulo a couple of Mailman archive rebuilds that changed
individual past message URLs.

I also have a prejudice that LUGs should eat their own dogfood, which 
includes hosting their own Internet services.  Of course, SVLUG has
always gladly and gratefully accepted offers of generic infrastructure
that still gives SVLUG root control and its own content and services 
on its own domains.  I favour that continuing.

As the prgmr.com virthost (lists.svlug.org) is in a similar sort of
dead-end condition as the Linode one, like you I've been expecting
one of several sorts of collapse, and that then there would be downtime
and a leisurely rebuild that brings back a better design.  Of course,
better still would be migrating to a non-rushed new host; I've not 
busted my ass to do that.  If anyone wants to work on the project, 
the invitation's open.

Absent that, the lists.svlug.org rebuild would follow the www.svlug.org
/ ns1.svlug.org one, whenever.  (My own server's rebuild might take
priority, as it's been delayed a long time.)

Meanwhile:  

All domain owners of domains for which ns1.svlug.org does DNS secondary
have been apprised of the downtime.

svlug.org DNS:  I've reconfigured ns1.linuxmafia.com to do master DNS.
About to advise Aaron T. Porter to please re-point the secondary to
ns1.linuxmafia.com's IP.

svlug.com DNS:  Same.  (We don't actually use this domain.)

svlug.net:  Josef Grosch and operates this domain on SVLUG's behalf
using his own nameservers.  I'll send him a note, but think this
domain's OK.  (We don't actually use this domain.)
