'Volunteers' is the working mailing list for the small number of people
who administer SVLUG.  Thus, you've reached only a handful of people in
their discussion forum for running SVLUG's internal operations.

You almost certainly mean to ask on the main SVLUG mailing list,
svlug at lists.svlug.org .  (You'll need to join that mailing list before
you may post to it.)  The main mailing list has a much larger membership
and is concerned with general Linux matters.

On the matter you propose:  You may well be right that your friend might
benefit from that help, but you should (please) be really certain that
your friend _wants_ to run Linux.  There's about a twenty-year history
of 'I think [X] should run Linux' initiatives not working well, for a
large number of reasons.  In my experience, if the person in question
isn't motivated him or herself, then the outcome that follows is pretty
much inevitably failure.
