> QUESTION: Is there a tradition to skip any holiday months such as December?
No. The only cancellations have been because of two direct hits on
major holidays:
There was no January 2003 meeting (in part because the first Wednesday
of the month would have been January 1st, 2003). Similarly, there was
no July 2001 meeting (in part because the first Wednesday of the month
would have been July 4th, 2001).
According to our records of meetings back to July 1997[1], SVLUG
has otherwise been consistent about holding meetings monthly.
One of the advantages of having a recurring data early in the month, and
on a Wednesday, is that it inherently misses several major holidays:
o Presidents' Day (3rd Mon Feb)
o Labour Day (1st Mon Sep)
o Memorial Day (last Mon May)
o Thanksgiving Day, USA (4th Thu Nov)
o Veterans' Day (was: Armistice Day) / Rememberance Day (Canada) Nov 11
o Christmas Day Dec 25
The major ones we _can_ accidentally hit are in fact New Year's Day and
Independence Day.
