[volunteers] A bit about Appcelerator, and an apology I need to add

I wish to say a few words on behalf / in defence of Alan DuBoff, to whom
I recently spoke very irritably on svlug at lists.svlug.org.

At the time I reacted with some considerable annoyance to Alan, I had
completely forgotten something I just now rediscovered:  On March 23rd,
last Wednesday, Alan _did_ write to me in private mail, offering to do a
talk in front of SVLUG about Appcelerator.  Because I was really, really
busy, because I've made a particular point of refusing to do the Speaker
Coordinator job as I don't want to do _everything_ at SVLUG,
and because I wanted to encourage others to step up and _frigging do
something for a change_, I forwarded Alan's offer to Volunteers.  See:

Why did I forward it to Volunteers?  Because I'm not Speaker
Coordinator, and have repeatedly clarified that fact for years on end.
And then, having passed along a contact _totally_ out of the scope of
anything I'd offered to shoulder for this group, I put that matter out
of my mind.

Guess what?  Nobody on Volunteers bothered to get back to Alan.  At all.
That's terrible, really.

Given that context -- which I'd _totally_ forgotten because I 
had _specifically_ refused to take on the Speaker Coordinator 
duties -- I don't blame Alan for feeling ignored.  He _was_ ignored.
My assertion on svlug at lists.svlug.org that Alan had made the offer to
the wrong address was thus (somewhat, almost) in error, and I am obliged
to apologise for forgetting Alan's earlier inquiry.

(Strictly speaking, he _did_ make his offer in the wrong forum -- in two
different ways -- but I did forward it to the correct one, and it was
then nonetheless completely ignored by you guys.)
