John's not on the mailing list, but I am CC'ing him with this.
John's discussion will be based on UNIX type systems which include
Linux. I know he will discuss his work Cytirx (gotomeeting) which runs
Java on Linux. Part of the discussion, at least in tone, will be how
we (collectively computer users) are moving away from Operating
Systems, per se.
>From my discussions with him this will be about the larger
architecture aspect and not so much tools. It will be a very advanced,
but comprehend-able, talk - versus the one I gave, or other recent
talks. John is very good at making seemingly complex topics - simple
and understandable. As the CTO of the video systems we ran in the
late-90's it was his job to sell to the investors; of which they were
always impressed with his explanations.
