Rejected with what I hope is a helpful explanation, though I keep
shaking my head that people _actually_ try to be HR Directors of
technology firms without understanding what a mailing list is:



Hi, Ms. [omitted].  There's no 'board'; there's a mailing list, which is
an automatic e-mail redistribution mechanism that reaches hundreds of
subscribers.  You posted directly to its redistribution address,
jobs at lists.svlug.org, which is fine, but there are two problems:  (1)
You posted the job description as a .docx attachment, which prevents the
moderators from verifying that the job description meets SVLUG's rules.
(2) Your Subject header was merely 'Job posting', whereas you probably
should use that 50 character or so space to briefly identify the company
and job in question.

Here's what you should do:  Create a new posting addressed to
'jobs at lists.svlug.org' (which, again, is the direct publication address
of SVLUG's Jobs mailing list).  In the Subject header, put something
describing the position, e.g., 'Senior Linux sysadmin opening at
Example, Inc. in Sunnyvale'. Now, open your job description in Microsoft
Word.  Do Ctrl-A to select the entire job description text (or in some
other way select whatever's relevant from that document).  Do Ctrl-C to
copy that selected text to Clipboard.  Now, switch back to your
partially completed e-mail.    Click your mouse pointer on line 1 of the
message body text.  Do Ctrl-V to paste from Clipboard.  Now, send the
message.

The SVLUG Jobs moderators will read your posted message to verify that
it complies with the mailing list's four posted rules, which you can
read at  http://lists.svlug.org/lists/listinfo/jobs, before approving
your posting to go out to the subscribers.
