Posted -- and _approved_.

FYI, anyone may _post_ to svlug-announce.  All postings are
automatically held for listadmin approval, mine included.
So, Don, my point is that you could have mailed that to svlug-announce
directly, if you'd wished.

Any listadmin looking at the admin queue can/should approve appropriate
held postings.  Mailing list policy is:

  This list is for Silicon Valley Linux User's Group's announcements,
  e.g., who will be the next speaker. (SVLUG and SVLUG-sponsored events
  _only_ may be announced, here.)

That (held postings) is the way announce-only mailing lists work, you
see:  All new subscribers automatically have the 'moderated' flag set.
It avoids the infamous situation where subscriber A accidentally posts
some non-announcement chatter, subscribers B-E reply _onlist_ to say
'Don't do that; don't you know this is an announce-only list?',
subscribers F-G reply _onlist_ to say 'Haha, you did exactly when A
did', A posts _onlist_ again to apologise, B-G reply _onlist_ to say
'You jackass', and on and on.

There was a time when I cleared my own 'moderated' flag on my
svlug-announce subscription, so that I/another listadmin wouldn't have
to approve my postings.  Streamlines the process.  What could possibly
go wrong?  ;->

Of course, what goes wrong is that, sooner or later, you end up sending 
something inappropriate -- and then, if you're smart, _not_ following up
your post to apologise.

So, that's why we went back to everyone having a 'moderated' flag on
that list.  (Reiber, naturally, unset his own flag -- and then screwed
up over and over until I set his flag again.)
