Amazingly, he's still doing it, so I've just set up a GNU Mailman filter
to automatically reject postings from his non-subscribed address in the
future, with some generic message or others.
Unfortunately, that filter will now persist if he ever does the right
thing and _subscribes_ that address (and sets it to 'nomail'), but
I'm tired of dealing the ongoing inconsiderate failure to deal with the
problem -- so, now I've made it _his_ problem.
If he subscribes and wants the autoreject filter removed, he'll have to
ask.

Subject: Machine booting to weird address
Hey all,
The machine set up as my music server, like all my machines here, has a
wireless Rosewill RNX-G300LX card.
Everything boots up with a 192.168.1.X address, but for some reason the
music server is booting up to 192.254.4.176 about one half of the time.
I just had to boot it four times before it came up on it's usual address of
192.168.1.42.
Here's the ifconfig snippet that shows the address when it boots up
normally, which it just did
wlan0 Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr 00:1a:ef:05:1e:70
inet addr:192.168.1.42 Bcast:255.255.255.255 Mask:255.255.255.0
But in the weird cases the 192.254 address will show up where 192.268.1.42
address is.
Could it be finding a different wireless router on those occasions or
something?
Any help, as always, is greatly appreciated.
