Hi!
I'd like to cast my voice in favor of not holding Installfests in San Jose,
unless it's in the northern part of the city.. The drive is easy for me, but
currently the attendance at the monthly meeting has been sparse, and IMHO
most of the reason is the distance that those on the Peninsula have to
drive. I would rather see the Installfests in a place like Cupertino,
Sunnyvale, Fremont, Milpitas (or....? so that the venue would be more
convenient for more of us.
Another reason for not holding our Installfests at a San Jose Library has to
do with availablity of rooms. We know what the current rules, but who knows
what they might be after the new year starts? A very long time ago, when I
was president of the Commodore 64/More group, we often didn't know whether
we had a meeting place or not. The rules changed often, and there were fees
charged for the room use. Some libraries have too few parking spaces, and
little space on the street for parking. Some of this has probably changed,
but the library was hardly a good host.
