The civilising-of-geekdom problem isn't too severe on occasions when I'm
physically present. (I continue to be disappointed by certain people
continually failing to clean their dishes, certain people continuing to
walk around dripping food on my floor without bothering to use a plate,
and so on, but we're working on improving their manners.)
What I was really saying is that occasionally it's necessary to cancel
a particular CABAL day entirely because the residents will be away,
sometimes on only a week's notice as I did this time -- and that
occasionally, nonetheless, we're willing to let the event proceed in our
absence given proper supervision.
> Piggybacking the installfest onto CABAL seems like any easy solution.
This has always been welcome as a strictly temporary solution to a venue
problem for up to 2-3 occasions.
Believe me, I do not feel "pressure". (In fact, some attendees have
been amazed at how very little I'm impressed by their feeling that I'm
being unfair to impose standards, and that the matter should be up to a
vote.)
