Ah, sorry, I responded only to you, because I was expressing a personal opinion,
and I know moderating this crap is a whole lot of work, so I was also recognizing
that my opinion didn't matter as much as yours, because I'm not willing to
moderate this list myself, and you are.

Is it the assembly that makes the difference? I gave away a bunch of
1GB ddr1 registered ecc ddr modules and some dual socket 604 motherboards
a few weeks back, along with the 2gb xeons.

your 2650 likely has 18gb drives.

Really, if you are paying co-lo prices for power, they have negative value.
You can get a much faster server that uses less power and has more ram for around $600.
You will probably save enough power/cooling to pay for it in a few months.

I saved so much money consolidating from dual 2ghz socket 604 xeons with 4g ram
to dual quad-core opterons with 32GB ram.

Yes, and I appreciate that. this list wouldn't exist without administrators standing
between it and the torrent of spam.

I'm just expressing the opinion that this should not have been let through

If people feel like they can get ahead by sending bulk mail, they will.
this message, especially as it was a Bcc (and president is unlikely to have
opted in to a marketing list) meets my definition of spam.

That said, you are moderating this list, and as I'm unwilling to do so, it's
your opinion that counts. I'm just giving you feedback (which is why I mailed
this just to you)

It means that more people will try to post commercial messages. Of course,
you stand between that flood and my mailbox, so I can't complain much.
