Hi Yakov:
Apologies for the delayed response, I'm just catching up on mail now after the holidays. You previously wrote:

While there is no guarantee that anyone will have the specific skills that you are seeking, SVLUG's installfests are generally good places to meet folks willing to help with projects of a Linux/FOSS nature. The next installfest is Saturday, January 17th in San Jose. More info on how to get the most out of an installfest, what to bring and location here:
http://www.svlug.org/installfest/
CABAL and SFLUG would be other in person events where you might find help:
http://linuxmafia.com/cabal/
http://www.sf-lug.com/
And while most Linux user group general meetings are lecture format with a pre-determined speaker, there is usually time for socializing and you maybe be able to find advice/help here as well. An excellent list of Bay Area Linux Users Groups (and events) can be found here:

Lastly, if you decide to look for help from various forums or mailing lists you might consider reading Rick Moen & Eric S. Raymond's "How To Ask Questions the Smart Way"

kind regards,
Andrew
