Quoting Paul Reiber (reiber at gmail.com):
> List admins - I'm unsure why this was sent only to my gmail address.
Um... on the evidence, he simply chose to send mail directly to your
personal address entirely on his own initiative. You are not listed as
a contact for mailing list administration.
> Please apply whatever policy/procedure/rules/regs/red-tape are

Leaving mailing lists, like joining them, is inherently self-service --
here and everywhere else on the Internet. Fortunately, it's also easy.
Right at the bottom of every post, including the one Paul sent, the one
Venkat sent, _and_ this one, is this line:
http://lists.svlug.org/lists/listinfo/volunteers
That URL is that of a page where Venkat or any other subscriber can
remove himself/herself with no difficulty.
(There's also a direct hyperlink in each and every posting for where to
go to immediately unsubscribe, _and_ Venkat got details of how to unsub
when he subscribed. So, no, he doesn't need anyone's handholding for
that.)
Also, _please_ send mailing list administrivia to, as it says at the
bottom of http://lists.svlug.org/lists/listinfo/volunteers , to
"mailman-owner at lists.svlug.org" (the listadmin address), rather than
bothering all 53 subscribers with it.
(I just got back from a movie. Sending mailing list administrivia to a
mailing list's broadcast address is like standing up during a movie and
yelling out "Hey, this movie sucks. I demand my money back." Bothering
the other theatre-goers about it is a bad idea.)
