People (how else to address you? :-) ),

I just got off the phone with Rick and we were discussing ideas.

Since we HAVE the virtual server from linnode and, as Rick said,
they make likely expect, not unreasonably, that we would give
them credit for hosting our website.

Now, Rick has the system somewhat capable of doing so using an
alternative web server (litehttp?) and it is presently acting as
our primary DNS server.

Given that linnode does a good job maintaing and backing up
their systems, and to relatively small amount of web traffic
that we have, it might make sense to actually host the standard
web stuff there.

*IF* we wanted to do that, I would say that we should explain
the situation to them and request additional ram to be able to
run standard software --- my system uses 128M and runs apache
and such just fine. (I would be willing to request this from
them and handle the negotiations if we so decided).

It just seems to be that it would be a reasonable use of that
machine and it would otherwise seem a shame to give it up.
Additionally, the physical hardware of that machine is
maintained by someone who is paid to do it and it is being
maintained 24/7. And since our web presence is probably the
item we'd be most concerned about being up 24/7, it seems like a
good match.

To finish, Rick and I discussed the possibilit of having a "meeting"
to brainstorm ideas about which machine to use for what, etc,
etc. If that seems like a good idea, let's plan it.

Otherwise, if none of this seems like a good idea, I'll just go
back to hacking the website. :-)

Lisa
