Which doesn't make a whole lot of sense, as encoding "us-ascii" (and
"US-ASCII") is pretty much all over the mbox, including a large number
of earlier messages the script didn't harf on. I checked with Marc
Merlin, who agrees with my analysis, but recommends upgrading in place
the antique and buggy beta version of Mailman that he installed under
/var/local/, ages ago. I personally don't think that's a good idea
(could make things much worse), so intend to do something different,
tomorrow: I'll plan to fetch the mbox to one of _my_ machines with a
modern version of Mailman, generate the Web archive there, tar it up,
and send that back.
