yup ... what is his email addy anyway, so he can be included
in these discussions
- sometimes, the first step needs to be taken by
somebody, in this case, handpick the "leader" ...
- in the past, "leaders" volunteered to run the picnic
by volunteering themself by posting to the picnic list

--- picnic releated stuff shold be posted to the linux picnic mailing list
as the picnic volunteers are in that list ... not this
"secret" svlug mailing list

i saw that ... linux10.org is now dead ... it was alive even
during last year picnic .. more picnic info got lost and erased
or at least "unavailable"

public interest items ( like "linux picnic" ) should be freely
available for anybody to look over ...
there is no room for "me/mine" vs "them" in opensource community
but all opinions is mine...

and more importantly ... how much $$$ was spent and what is left over ...

it probably comingled, but it all came out ... they made the
budget available for review and funds transferred to justin ( sbay )
anybody that wants to play treasurer should be able to play treasurer
or any other position of interest to the volunteers to make the
linux picnic happen ... preferrably without any major or minor problems

any lug should be able to do picnic treasure stuff

that should also include who makes what decisions and by what deadlines
so that it doesnt all coming to a crashing deadend at the last minute
all these problems were avoided previously because it was a "group effort"
and not one person deciding with veto power

okay cynic.. but you're not alone ...
one problem i see, is NOT everybody is willing to say anything
as it is easier to lay low as oppose to stirring the pot

the linux picnic donations can be sent to anybody ... at random
to whomever volunteers for that position
there is nothing ( legally ) sbay or anybody can do to prevent it
unless of course duncan says no way to any volunteers for any
particular task

those are major sticky points that needs to be cleaned up
and it takes a couple minutes of time to do it .. to make it clean
per the vote of the community
rick> i see _zero_ Linux picnics held by the Bay Area Linux community at

1st picnic was run by svlug
2nd picnic was run by davis lug
3nd picnic was run by davis lug ( different "coordinator" )
4th picnic was run by baylisa ( starting in the middle of it )
5th picnic was run by baylisa
and now we have duncan to run 2007 picnic
there are many lugs in the area .. and its cousins
rick> I don't know if there is enough interest among the Bay Area's Linux

there is ... problem is the politics of it
--- lots to clean up ... to make things a happy opensource world again ...
