[volunteers] SVLUG newsletter

Driving home from last night's meeting, I had an idea that
I'd like to share with you all.

It came to me that SVLUG should have a monthly newsletter!
To clear things up from the get-go, I'm NOT talking about
printing anything on paper; this would be entirely digital.

I'd like for us to have one... so much so that I'm willing to
do most of the work myself if need be. I'll take time to
recap the events of the month - our meeting, anything
noteworthy from the installfest and CABAL meetings,
particularly compelling linux-related / local news items,
news and announcements from SVLUG members, and
hopefully some columns from regulars and guests.

If you'd like to take on a contributing role in this effort,
I urge you to contact me. We can organize this however
we choose. For example, separate volunteers could
have roles such as:

- monthly meeting "scribe" who takes notes to be used
in support of a meeting recap

- installfest "scribe" who takes works with each
installfest project to document what it's doing, at
whatever level of depth is desired (from one-liner
through HOWTO, on either end of the spectrum)

- linux news collector, who filters wheat from chaff and
helps us publish information about a handful of truly
important happenings from the month

- regular and guest columnists who can use the newsletter
as a medium for expressing themselves.

- an editor or two, handling letters to the editor, news
contributions, announcements, guest columnist management,
regular columnist management

I'm sure I've missed a few important roles, and I'm sure I've
understated what some of the roles will involve... but I'm also
sure that this is a worthwhile endeavor, that can be fun and
rewarding for all involved.

If you'd like to be part of a monthly newsletter, please let
me know what role you'd like to take on.

Thanks for your ongoing support of SVLUG!

Best regards,
