Greetings!
The UK-based magazine "Linux Format" would like to profile
SVLUG as LUG-of-the-month in an upcoming issue.
We have approximately 350 words to work with, and they've
also asked if we have any images that might be fun to share.
I've written up and attached an initial draft, which comes in
at 275 words.
Your feedback and edits are appreciated, as are images or
pointers to images that we might want to give them.
I want to send them something by January 3rd at the latest,
so we'll be coming in 2 business days before their deadline.
Thanks in advance for your help with this!

SVLUG, the Silicon Valley Linux Users Group, is arguably the worlds
oldest LUG. Formed in 1988 as the PC-Unix SIG of the Silicon Valley
Computer Society, SVLUG has morphed and grown over the years. Recently
it achieved fully independent status. Historical details are available
on our website, http://svlug.org
SVLUG operates quite well without having a treasury, bylaws, or even
an official charter. Officers and volunteers ensure that things run
smoothly, while a handful of sponsors provide for the three basic needs
of any LUG: meeting spaces, internet servers, and, of course, pizza.
Monthly activities include the main meeting and the Installfest/Workshop.
Education, collaboration, and community are the principal foci of the
group. The San Jose, CA area Linux hobbyists, professionals, and
enthusiasts who are active in the group have ambitious goals for the
coming years:
* One important goal is positioning SVLUG as an exemplary
LUG, one that other LUGs can look to for ideas, advice, and guidance.
* Our outreach program is making contact with local schools, in
hopes of establishing mentor/accolyte programs with promising students.
* Our systems administrators are busy rolling out some new internet
servers and services, which are all being publically documented, so that
others can learn from the process and avoid making similar mistakes.
You might think that SVLUG's high-profile sponsorship resulted from
our fortuitous location. While this may be partially true, good will
and ongoing working relationships between members and sponsors is also
a big part of the equation. Meeting space and pizza can be found in
most any town, and the nearest internet service provider, if properly
approached, will probably love the idea of sponsoring your LUG.
