Just to confirm that I wasn't kidding about _Network World_ having sent
out broadcast spam mindlessly to "mailto" links. (I swear, I did _also_
receive one ironically touting their spam-fighting coverage, but
evidently it wasn't this one.)

[blah blah]
Just in case anyone is fooled by the above or "link exchange requests",
etc., notice first of all the odd inclusion of "WELCOME!" in the above.
Have you figured out that bit?
I'll confess, when I saw that message to webmaster at svlug.org, it _did_
fool me -- not into thinking it was worthwhile, but at least into
believing it was actually written by a human being. It's not. It's
from a spam script that scrapes text off people's Web pages and sends
spam-mail to the site's maintainer e-mail links.
That became blindingly obvious when I got this mail. ("Quoth the Raven"
is text from the top of linuxmafia.com's front page, just as "WELCOME!"
is from SVLUG's.)
Sadly, it appears that this junk really _is_ from Network World
magazine. (And they give awards for good antispam solutions, etc.)

I would like to speak with you about a co-branding opportunity between
Quoth the Raven and Network World. As you know, Network World's
award-winning editorial staff delivers the up-to-date and thoughtful
analysis, news, product tests, expert opinion and management strategy
that Network IT Executives, the experts who design, implement and
manage the data, voice and video networks requires.
