(Alvin had objected to a Taos Mountain Consulting post to the Jobs
mailing list -- which I'd approved -- on grounds that it was generic
fishing for job-seekers, and not a specific job post. The posting's
viewable at http://lists.svlug.org/archives/jobs/2006-June/000319.html .)

Quoting Alvin Oga (alvin at mail.Linux-Consulting.com):

Greets, old friend!

Well, when in doubt, I try to go by the literal rules on
http://lists.svlug.org/lists/listinfo/jobs and my (usually pretty hasty)
assessment of the post's content.

I wouldn't object in the least if you wanted to ask Micah and Paul about
this stuff. (In fact, just to keep people in the loop, I'm redirecting
this to Volunteers.) They might want to make some change the the
mailing list rules, or just state an opinion, or something like that.

The existing rules _do_ say that the position must be for an "available
[job] position". Whether we like them or don't like them, Taos does put
people on salary, and it seemed plausable that they really are looking
for one or more actual sysadmin for some actual positions. (They claim
they have "positions in our Infrastructure practice area.) I try not to
be _too_ cynical, and give posters the benefit of the doubt.

It's always possible that I erred, though, and I don't mind hearing
people's views on that. These things are often judgement calls.
