I'd be glad to respond to this person. If I were to do so, it would be
as follows:
Dear tsreid at att.net:
At the bottom of every posting to either of those mailing lists
is a URL at which you can pick a sub-screen to un-subscribe yourself.
Also, each such post has in its headers a "List-Unsubscribe:" header
showing a very specfic URL you can visit to immediately un-subscribe
yourself.
In either case, this is just something you're fundamentally
expected to take care of for yourself. If you aren't prepared
to shoulder that responsibilty, you probaby shouldn't join mailing lists.
By the way, svlug.org doesn't operate the PenLUG list.
I personally think that would be _exactly_ appropriate, as well as
kind and informative -- but, for all I know, one or more of the usual
suspects might accuse me of being "mean to newbies" or something, and
I'm very tired of getting that sort of abuse just for trying to look
after fundamentals. So, I'm going to punt on the question, unless and
until Paul or Bill says "Please do send that, Rick."
