[svlug] VPS recommendations?

Hello all,

Can anyone recommend a good VPS, a virtual private server, for my domain?

ixian.com has been hosted at sonic.net for maybe 20 years now, but hosting is now a legacy service to them. They took shell access away earlier this year (2024), and their help desk tells me they no longer offer a secure way for domain holders to copy files up to them, only insecure FTP. Ridiculous and disappointing.

So I'm looking for a (BSD or Linux) server where I can:

        - host my domain
        - receive domain email (to *@ixian.com)
        - from which I download email to home with IMAP or what have you (I don't possess the expertise or inclination to run my own mail server)
        - have shell access
        - host a simple, basically static web site
        - keep some files (less than 1 GB)

I (presently, sadly) get Internet connectivity via Comcast, so I don't need a connectivity solution.
