I know exactly what sort of mishegoss you're talking about -- but Ruby
the scripting language is rather a different proposition from Ruby on
Rails, and I'd not blame the Ruby language for what David Heinemeier
Hansson[1] & co. did with it as a component of the Rails server-side Web
application framework.
FWIW, if you've worked with Chef, you'll have run into Ruby. And you
might actually like it as an interpreted language.
[1] My Tante Bjorg always warned me to not trust those Scandinavians.
And my Onkel Reidar said the same thing. (But Bestemor Margot and
Farfar Arne thought they're basically alright.)
