I have been using Lubuntu (14.04 .. 16.04) without any problems on Dell
Latitude 6420, 6430, 6220, 6230 and 5540 and Precision 4700. Wireless
works, hibernate/resume works (using pm-hibernate) and Nvidia binary
drivers work. I have one with Intel graphics as well. But, when I
purchased one Dell Precision 4800 with ATI graphics, it used to restart
X very frequently. I returned it and got one with Nvidia which worked
flawlessly ever since.
I noticed that hibernate/resume started showing problems after I
upgraded to Lbuntu 1510 so I had to use the kernel from 15.04 to make it
resume right. But it may not be a problem to Dell h/w after all.
Thanks
Kevin.
