Friends, are you too irrationally annoyed by GRUB's listing all kernel
choices except for one as 'Advanced options' in the bootloader menu?
Would you like to see all the error messages at boot automatically
rather than having to edit /boot/grub/grub.cfg by hand and remove
'quiet'? Here's how.

Add these two lines to /etc/grub.d/10_linux:

   export GRUB_DISABLE_SUBMENU=y
   export GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT=""

Then generate a new grub.cfg file:

   grub-mkconfig -o /tmp/foo

Check the file:

   grub-script-check /tmp/foo

Install!

    cp /boot/grub/grub.cfg /boot/grub/grub.cfg_dist
    cp /tmp/foo /boot/grub/grub.cfg

Now when you get a new kernel package from your distro, or compile your
own kernel, GRUB will adhere to your wishes.

NOTE: you're crazy to care about this, or to even consider following my
advice.

Best,
Alison
