Edimax EW-7811UN  seems to be the "preferred" choice for Raspberry PI.  (Raspbian is a variant of Debian).
If it was any smaller, there would be nothing to pull it out of the USB port.
If connectivity / range is an issue, you might want a different unit with external antenna.

Price is about $10.  Order online for Walmart.  With free shipping to store, it was the least expensive.
