On one machine I'm using an SC450 rackmount unit which connects via a
940-0024E cable.  On the other machine I'm connecting to an old
SU1000NET using 940-0024C cable.  These are serial connections and very
annoyingly most sites don't talk about serial.  I really think it's
Slackware that is causing the trouble, another machine running CentOS
5 connects to an SC450 via 940-0024E cable just fine and I have three
other CentOS 6 machines running on SU1000NET units with signalling just
fine.  Only my slackware boxes are having trouble.
