The presentation describes the DryadLINQ cluster computing platform which enables developers to program large computer clusters using .Net and LINQ. DryadLINQ combines the Dryad execution runtime with the LINQ programming language and the TidyFS distributed filesystem, providing a single-system view of a compute cluster. DryadLINQ has been used for a variety of large-data applications, including for the training of the Xbox Kinect body-tracking pipeline.

Mihai Budiu is a researcher at Microsoft Research in Silicon Valley. He has a Ph.D. from Carnegie Mellon University. He has worked on hardware synthesis, compilers, computer security and is currently involved in building programming frameworks and applications for large-scale cluster computing platforms.

Meetings are open to the public and are free of charge.
