I keep my stuff in a controled environment, and I expect them to
run without further work for 3 years, at which time I replace it;
Uh, I don't know of any big data center that blows out servers.
Of course, most larger places keep servers for 3-5 years and then throw
them out; I soppose if you keep yours for longer, blowing them out
might be a good idea.
the big thing to worry about when opening the chassis is ESD.
Be careful; wear protection.
