Sometimes even that doesn't work.  I don't know why, but it might
be specific to the particular environment it failed me in (it
hung, same with umount -f).  The environment consisted of RHEL3
NFS clients with ClearCase (pesky proprietary mvfs/vnode kernel
modules), and a Solaris 10 NFS server with a lockd that would
quit responding once in a while.
