[svlug] suddenly low bandwidth on lan cable

I've a cable crossing home 15-20m that connect the dsl modem to the
router.
The cable is an ftp cat5.
I had over 10MB/s on that cable, now I get something between 150KB/s
and 50KB/s.
I'm not measuring internet -> modem -> router bandwidth but modem ->
router speed.
and:
RX packets:0 errors:1 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:48318
TX packets:0 errors:106 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0
I re-crimped both ends with no improvement.
I checked if the cat eat any part (about 1m is out of the cable
duct).
I changed the modem and the router at the 2 ends with new ones.
The cable is pretty old (10 years), but it is protected by a cable
duct and it is rarely touched at the extremes.
Everything I think of seems pretty improbable to me.
I couldn't think of any new source of interference... and the cable
is an ftp.
I don't have an oscilloscope at home. I don't have a cable tester
but I could buy one if it could discern if the cable is broken or
there is some sort of interference etc...
I just would like to avoid to change the cable for nothing.
thanks
