[svlug] Why for not updating?

Hey all,

I use Kate as a code editor, and like it very much. It's not
as fancy shmancy as some of them there big city editors like
you folk may use in your high falootin' Siliconer Valleys and
what nots, but dadgumit it does right by us simple folk here
in the Midwest.

ahem... Anyway, it works great and I like it. But on Ubuntu
9.04 for some crazy reason the file dialogue lists all the
files in descending alphabetical order, and even if you change
it in the menu on the file dialogue box, it still reverts back
for all other directories and the next time you open it.

I've seen people citing this all over the place, but no fix
yet that I can find.

However, I just did a new install of 9.04 and it works fine on
that machine, so my big Q is, if there's a fix for it how come
I haven't gotten it in an update?

I guess I can uninstall Kate and reinstall, but I'd rather not
since I have all the settings to my liking as is.

Suggestions? Witticisms? Fashion tips?

Eternally grateful,
Skip
