It is kind of embarassing to have one of the most
authoritarian senators right in the digital freedom
movement's backyard.  She should already be on
any freedom-lover's number two list for sponsoring
"Consume, But Don't Try Programming Anything," which
was a low point even for the US Senate.

(We can't have any illusions about this being
"Southern California" studios against "Northern
California" tech though.  The kind of mandates
Sen. Feinstein advocates are good for all incumbent
vendors, because they keep the regulatory burden on
potential future companies high.)
