Hey all,

I upgraded my workstation to the new Ubuntu release, 9.04,
smooth as a super model's bottom (not that I'd ever get the
chance to know) and it's pretty cool. Love the new opening
screen and the graphics on my system are improved, etc.

But my laptop is a Dell Vostro 1000 and when I tried to
upgrade it I got a message saying (this is not verbatim so no
quotes)... This machine is using the graphics driver AMD
fglrx. No version exists for this driver in Ubuntu 9.04. Do
you want to continue?

I did install an unsupported driver when I installed big U on
that laptop, I do recall, so maybe that's it.

If I continue the install will it use a different driver that
will work on the machine, or is it possible (anything's
possible, but is it likely) the machine will not be able to
properly display?

I did find this page:
http://www.fejes.ca/2009/03/xorgconf-file-for-vostro-1000-using.html

But it seems specific to Compiz, which I just read a bit on.

I am getting the impression the upgrade will go okay, but
wanted some expert opinions before proceeding, lest I boof my
laptop.

I use it daily, and in fact have to go to a client's with it
today and would feel pretty silly saying, "I don't have my
laptop because my upgrade failed."

Thanks,
Skip
