Depends on what you mean by partial checkout. If you mean checking out
only a portion of a repository, Mercurial (at least) supports that. If
you mean checking out only a portion of the revision history for a
given subdirectory, no it does not support that. On the other hand
that only matters if you routinely overwrite all data instead of
adding (which tends to be the case with binary formats like pictures,
movies, etc).
