I use UNIX® Shells by Example, Fourth Edition, Ellie Quigley, Prentice Hall 2005 ISBN 0-13-147572-X, for my shell scripting class.
You can see the syllabus and assignments at http://evc-cit.info/cit052/
Shameless self-promotion: It's an online class with optional weekly group discussions on campus, so if you want to sign up for this fall semester, go to http://www.evc.edu/ and enroll.

Subject: [svlug] Recommend shell scripting book?
Hey,
Can someone recommend a good shell scripting book
for a beginner, or at least someone who has never
(shamefully) invested the time to learn proper
shell scripting?
Thanks,
Skip
