[svlug] Open-Source options for Network Monitoring solution?

Can I solicit recommendations from list members about experiences with 
Open-Source System Monitoring solutions? I need something that can 
manage data flow in either direction (pull or push) and prepare reports 
on outages at the host or service level. Discussion can be posted to the 
list, or emailed to me directly. Thanks in advance.
