#
# dmesg | grep sd

bash-3.00# dmesg | grep sd
Installing knfsd (copyright (C) 1996 okir at monad.swb.de).

# Does that show any sd devices? I'm guessing you aren't getting the device
# to show up as a scsi device.

That seems to be the problem.

If I grep for scsi:

bash-3.00# dmesg | grep -i scsi
SCSI subsystem initialized
usb-storage: Protocol: Transparent SCSI
scsi0 : SCSI emulation for USB Mass Storage devices

# And you mention that it works on a Live CD. Does it have a different
# kernel than the one you are using? Can you possibly install its
# kernel?

Nope. We've modified the kernel for this system. We're planning an
update in the future, but need this feature now.
