Hi,
Perhaps Tri should change jobs and then he will not have to worry about
Linux any more.
Windows is my primary development platform at work, but then I use vxWorks
and Eclipse as a development environment. I also use Visual Studio for
some stuff and Mac OS X for other work (using xCode etc), and we use Linux
(indeed, I recently submitted a patch for the USB Storage driver for
Linux to allow for greater than 2TiB devices, although it was a
co-worker who suggested the actual problem).
Windows is a pain. Mac OS X is a pain. Linux is a pain. Each has different
types of pain.
Windows crashes too much. I have 2GB of memory but it still has problems
with running out of memory. However, it has a slick integration of Asian
Languages, and since I am studying Chinese, it is very easy to write
documents in Chinese. I am told that Mac OS X has the same. Linux does
not. Many of the apps on Linux are no where near as slick as they are on
Windows, however, the Linux source is available, and if a problem exists
we can fix it and the design is fundamentally fairly clean.
For me, it's horses for courses ... all three are better than Primos.
Regards
