32-bit libs just plain don't work on 64-bit *buntu without a chroot. There
may be a way to get them to work under Debian, but there are way too many
reasons to avoid 64-bit *buntu at all costs, in favor of either 32-bit
*buntu (not advantageous in this particular case), or some other distro.
This is one of the few situations where I would very strongly recommend
Gentoo.
