I respect highly anyone who's able to successfully wrangle sendmail --
and it remains a highly capable MTA for those able and willing to master
its quirks.  

In the event that you come up dry, please be aware that many of us, 
regretfully or less so, jumped ship from sendmail to MTAs with easier
configuration and administration -- mostly Exim and Postfix.  

If your needs are simple, you might also consider nullmailers:
