[svlug] Software Raid 1 vs straight ext3 partition

Shifting the focus a little - assuming we would just go change the type from fd to 83, take the snapshot, get everything except for
the md metadata at the end. Would there be a way to recreate the metadata? Or would that involve having to resync the two raid
partitions. If so, the last time I did that it took over 1 full day - in the background of the running system, but still. The box
was pretty slow. So at that point I might be better of just using dd...
