Hello, SVLUG!

Hope you can make it to the instalfest today - it'd be great to see
some new faces there!

I was at first disappointed to learn that neither Micah nor Paul Reed
will be running for re-election at the upcoming SVLUG elections. I
think they've both done a damned good job given the situations they
had to contend with. SVLUG owes them a debt of gratitude for
their service to the group.

But, then I began looking at their departure from office more as an
opportunity than as a challenge. I contacted one of the other active
SVLUG volunteers - Mark Weisler - and bribed^H^H^H^H^H^H convinced
him to become my running mate.

I'm happy to announce that we'll be running for the SVLUG presidency
and vice-presidency at the next election. As volunteers, we've both
already agreed to dedicate the time and effort required to help SVLUG
move forward. As officers, we'll be better equipped to make the time
we're dedicating count that much more.

As volunteers in the SVLUG "do-ocracy", Mark and I (along with Rick and
Alvin
and a slew of other volunteers) are already working on the following
projects/ideas:

* continuing support for monthly meetings and monthly installfests
* developing/implementing the "frankenfest" computer recycling concept
* helping/planning for SVLUG server migration
* installing a virtualization solution on a new/replacement server
* community outreach - helping the local community learn how we can help
them

Both Mark and I hope we can count on your support (and your vote!) at the
upcoming elections.

See you there!
