ReiserFS has been popularised to date mostly through its being the
default on SUSE (which will apparently no longer be the case, for the
future). It's pretty high-performance in many areas, and has tried out
some innovative ideas about database-like features (balanced-tree
design) and 'extents'.

The best place to find out about it is here: http://www.namesys.com/
