Thanks for trying to help.  I'd rather not frame the problem around
wordpress because that is not the issue here.  Without going into all
the details, I need to have old references to
http://peterkellner.net/?p=24 (and the like) go to something different
such as http://peterkellner.net/wp/mynewplace.html

Turns out, configuring/controlling WordPress URLs is a standard
problem, with a well-worn answer.  Link that follows is courtesy of my
