Oh, looky, looky, I overwrote the password on the command line:

ps ax | grep ssh
  2631 ?        Ss     0:00 /usr/sbin/sshd
  3735 ?        Ss     0:00 /usr/bin/ssh-agent -s
19575 pts/4    S+     0:00 ./ssh -z          root at 0
19576 ?        Ss     0:00 sshd: root at pts/5
19611 pts/2    R+     0:00 grep ssh

15-20 minutes was all it took.
