Maybe a RAID5 array: Physical disks are finally becoming fast enough
that several of them pumping out together can render theoretical bus
limits no longer mere sales talking points for swaying the credulous.

E.g., I remember when ATA/133 was promoted as supposedly a huge
advantage, at a time when no PATA drive in real-world situations was
likely to even saturate ATA/66. But suddenly some bus ceilings do
matter (for mass storage).

Especially if you like proprietary drivers. ;->

Me, I'd start by looking at the Asus P5WDG2-WS or comparable 975X
motherboards. (Well, actually, no: I'd keep using whatever laptop's
handy, with all real work occurring on my server box, reached via
OpenSSH/screen magic.)

If I were a gamer, I'd probably feel differently.
<tongue align=cheek>'Course, then I'd need that lobotomy.</tongue>
