Quoting Kelly Williams (kwilliams at nethtc.net):

Kelly, the solution to your problem depends in part on whether your
CD-R[W] drive is ATAPI ("IDE"), SCSI, USB, or parallel port -- and other
details of your system and its setup. This may help:

The "cdrecord" utility referenced is a command-line utility that burns
CDs from input binary disk image files. "k3b" burns CD-R[W] disks by
invoking cdrecord behind the scenes.

The most-popular graphical front-end program for burning CD-R[W] disks
and DVD-R[W] / DVD+R[W] disks (front-ending various command-line
utilities including cdrecord) is k3b. There are a number of others that
also have admirers.
