   IIRC mozilla mail client, mutt, evolution can also check for new mail 
in multiple folders (in some cases you have to specify explicitly which 
folders to check for new mail). I guess other clients do it too but it's 
not always on by default and might be hard to find (or at least not 
obvious) how to make the client check for new email in other folders.
