Google released a similar thing for Java: 
http://code.google.com/webtoolkit/

It lets you write all your code for an AJAX-enabled site in Java, and 
it'll autogenerate all the Javascript for you.  A buddy of mine at a 
Wall St. company has used it and said it's great.
